Just a handful of Quakers were in action last weekend although several also took part in a local charity event.

Peter Rowley coming into the finish at Ropner Park

The sole race to see the black and white vest in action was over at Ropner Park for the What a Wheeze Christmas Cracker 5K. On the three-lap route around the park, Marc Ellis finished in second place overall in 17:40 followed by Peter Rowley (25:15), Anna Hardy (31:25), Susan Rigg (34:07), Sarah Wilson (37:54), Sharon Carr (38:26) and Leigh Hindle (38:36).

Over 40 Quakers also took part in this year’s McTaggart Trot held around Barton and raising money for St Teresa’s Hospice. The three-person team event saw Ian Hart as the highest placed of our runners on the day, finishing in the third placed team overall.

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Dave Jones finished at South Park in 18:31 followed by Neil Gooding (19:30), Adrian Cottam (19:48), James Atkinson (20:19), Corey Horn (20:24), David Matthew (20:25), Gareth Kyle (20:41), Andrew Vernon (20:50), Phil Clarke (22:49), Ian Hart (23:43), Peter Rowley (24:25), Thomas Gannaway (24:54), Anna Hardy (25:02), Stuart Masterman (25:14), Malcolm Hewitson (25:39), Angela Clement (26:16), Julie Bell (26:42), Danny Gordon (27:04), Mark Trowles (27:16), Hannah Alderson (27:17), Darren Alderson (27:21), Elizabeth Kennedy (27:24), John Mcgrath (27:42), Kathryn Plant (28:05), Chris Land (28:09), Michael King (28:27), Michelle Scruby (28:56), Paul Reid (28:59), Jo Meynell (29:02), Sally Singleton (29:35), Helen Whiting (29:55), Anne-Michelle Whitley (29:57), Phill Johnston (32:14), Rachel Grayson (34:03), Sarah Watson (34:42), Michelle Dale (35:58), Paul Ryan (37:46), Rachel Maddison (37:49), Gary Read (37:49) and Linda Gossage (42:47).

At Sedgefield, Dave Thompson finished in 23:53 along with Anthony Corbett (26:41), John Whinn            (29:59), Julie Whinn (29:59), Nicola Howe (31:22), April Corbett (31:23) and Claire Norman (31:50), while at Tees Barrage Tom and Claire Chapman ran there in 22:07 and 26:02 respectively. At Albert Park, Michael Joyeux was first across the line in 16:18 along with Stephen Moore in 24:30, Rebecca Dodd did the Stewart Park run in 27:54, Helen Spaven ran at Hartlepool in 29:05, and Mike Watson completed the Whitley Bay run in 25:04.

Further afield, Diane Vaughan and Richard Hughes did the Torbay run in 22:40 and 25:46 respectively, Stuart Hardcastle finished the Wepre run in 24:15, Mark Blewitt completed the Lytham Hall run in 28:10, while Lucia Minto ran at Glasgow Pollok in 24:52.
