Some Quakers made the most of the extra day to take part in a rare 29 February race.

Emma Joyeux achieves a very rare leap day centenary!

At the Leap Year Sir Titus Special held at Saltaire, Emily Beaumont completed the out and back marathon route along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal in 4:45:32, coming in as the second lady overall.

Over in Albert Park, Stephen Moore finished the Leap Year 6K Trot, held around the parkrun route, in 34:53.

On the Sunday, three headed over to Haweswater for the half marathon race taking place there along the shore of the lake itself. Wendy Colling completed the out and back route in 1:52:12 along with Robert Kirby (2:01:41) and Mark Colling (2:12:51).

Four Quakers were up near Consett for the Derwent Reservoir 10 mile race on a trail route around the water. April Corbett completed the distance in 1:43:31 along with Anthony Corbett in 1:43:33 and Jennifer Hardy & Mary Macivor who finished together in 2:10:55.

At Sedgefield, David Whittle finished in 22:33 along with Hayden Thompson (27:14), Paul Hutchinson (31:19), Joanne Dewar (33:39), Richard Hughes (33:39) and Stacey Thompson (36:26), while at Tees Barrage, Ian Hart ran there in 22:31 along with Mike Watson (23:04), Ian Scott (27:00), Rebecca Dodd (27:17) and Sally Watson (33:21). At Gibside, Phil Rutter finished in 24:20 followed by Wendy Colling (27:12), April Corbett (28:06) and Gill Colling (31:26), David Ledgerwood did the Rising Sun run in 57:44, Helen Whiting ran at Northallerton in (31:26) and Anneli Mackenzie Brown finished at Hackworth in 30:53. At Albert Park, Adrian Cottam and Stephen Moore finished in 19:30 and 29:34 respectively, Anthony Corbett did the Leazes run in 25:54 while at Catterick, Janette Croft ran there in 30:12 with Leigh Hindle in 40:06. Further afield, Rachel Maddison and Caroline Litster ran at Huddersfield in 32:32 and 32:33 respectively, Stuart Hardcastle did the Delamere run in 24:17, Kathryn Plant ran at Irchester in 28:42 and Wendy Thompson finished at Livingston in 44:37.
