17th January: parkruns – Darlington South Park, Hamsterley Forest, Fulwell Quarry and Sedgefield
At Darlington South Park, Ian Hart broke the club age category with a time of 22:42 and at Hamsterley Forest, Rebecca Howard was 3rd female and 10th finisher overall in 27:13. Chris Wright completed his 50th parkrun milestone at Fullwell Quarry in 26:19 and at Sedgefield, Gill Colling achieved her 50th volunteer milestone.
17th January: Newcastle 10k
This road closed course takes in the famous landmarks of the Newcastle Quayside passing the Swing Bridge and under High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge & Redheugh Bridge, before returning the same way. This is an extremely fast, flat course that boasts real PB potential, whilst being accessible to beginners.
Lidia Vassilovska completed the race in 53:29 (PB).
18th January: Brass Monkey Half Marathon
This race starts and finishes at York Racecourse and is a flat and fast course that heads southwards through Bishopthorpe, Acaster Selby, Appleton Roebuck and back through Bishopthorpe to finish behind the racecourse grandstands.
Carys Samuel was first Quaker finisher with a shiny new PB of in 1:38, followed by Deborah Berry (1:44), Lisa Bowerbank (1:48 PB), Raymond Reed (1:56), Dan Rushton-Orton (1:58), Paul Cockburn (1:59 PB), Gill Colling (2:05 PB), Sue Sparrow (2:08), Lesley Neal (2:09), Diane Sparrow (2:18) and Barbra Barker (2:18).
24th January: parkrun – Sedgefield & Darlington South Park
At Sedgefield parkrun, Anthony Corbett completed his 500th parkrun in 31:05, whilst at Darlington South Park, Lisa Bowerbank achieved a shiny new PB of 23:24, shaving 21 seconds off her previous PB in November 2024 and Wendy Noble completed her 100th parkrun milestone in 32:51.
24th January: Lewis Burn Trail Run
The Lewis Burn Trail Run is a night trail race held in Kielder Forest and is Race 4 of the Shadowlands Race Series and covers 10 km with 246 m of elevation.
The route uses forest tracks and mountain bike trails and follows the Lewis Burn mountain bike trail. The course is undulating with small, testing climbs. The route starts from Bakethin car park, runs parallel to the Lewis Burn to the far end of the course, then tackles the steep zig zags of Simons Tester before a long descent back to the finish. As the shortest event in the series, it is expected to be the fastest.
Helen Clark completed the route in 1:12 and was 3rd in age category.
31st January: parkrun – Darlington South Park and Hamsterley Forest
At Darlington South Park, Michael Joyeux finished in 1st place overall in 17:04 and Gavin Armstrong completed his 100th parkrun milestone in 36:32, whilst at Hamsterley Forest, David Aiken was 10th finisher overall in 23:25 and Rebecca Howard was 10th finisher overall and 1st female in 24:49.
31st January: Lonesome Pine Trail Run
The Lonesome Pine Trail Run is a 17 km night trail race held in Kielder Forest. It is Race 5 of the Shadowlands Race Series and offers 369 m of recorded elevation.
The route uses forest tracks and mountain bike trails, centred on the Lonesome and Sky Dive mountain bike loops. Runners follow the relatively flat Lakeside Way before entering a sequence of long steady climbs to a highest point. The descent uses newly built mountain bike trails that lead into Kielder village and on to the finish.
Helen Clark completed the event in 2:01 and was 3rd in age category,

Hardmoors 2025 Series
The best 5 scores of participants competing in the Hardmoors series (Saltburn, White Horse, Wainstones, Farndale, Roseberry and Goathland) are counted.
In the 10k league, Dave Jones finished in 2nd place overall and was 2nd male and Rebecca Dodd finished in 4th place overall and was 2nd female.
