It was busy weekend in the Club Championship with a trail race at Snape on Saturday followed by the half marathon at Redcar on Sunday. Only Jeff Marriott and Gary Read were mad enough to tackle both events. Super sexagenarian, Phil Clarke claimed the top place at Snape, beating Kyle Cooke to the 50 points by a mere three seconds. Rebecca Howard was the top lady with 42 points.
Over at the coast, it was youngster, Michael Joyeux who claimed the top prize. Paul Dalton wasn’t far behind him and Dawn Richardson claimed 47 points to finish as our highest placed female.
With just seven races to go, it’s now mathematically impossible for Brian Martin to be caught. Seven runners have now completed ten events or more and things are beginning to get interesting. Marc Ellis is still hanging on to second place. Dawn moves up to third and Rob Gillham drops to fourth. Paul Dalton, back in sixth place, but with a race in hand, looks threatening. Sandra Martin and Julie Whinn look set to battle it out for the second placed lady trophy.
There’s no event this weekend, but two on the following Sunday: A choice of a hilly 10k at Richmond or the Hellhole trail race up at Stanley.
