QRC members Kylie and Dan expressed their sincere thanks to volunteers from Quakers Running Club for their help with supporting a charity close to their hearts, 4Louis.

Sue, Emily, Lisa, Chris, Chris, Graham and Kylie travelled up to Sunderland where they had a proactive and rewarding day with many jobs completed including:

  • cutting items
  • gluing butterflies on lids for prepped burial boxes
  • making up 78 big memory boxes for stillborn, infant losses and child losses between 5 and 18 years of age, as well as 220 early memory miscarriage boxes

36 of the larger memory boxes were packed and dispatched straight after they had been made up, heading to a hospital in Cambridge as they were in demand.

Another volunteer day, scheduled for 11th March, currently has spaces for volunteers (this can be organised with Kylie) as well as plans for another day in the future.

4Louis shared a lovely post on their Facebook page, reminding the volunteers of the difference they will make to the families they support:

 About 4Louis

4Louis are a charity that support families through miscarriage, stillbirth and child loss. The team at 4Louis understand how devastating and traumatic it is to lose a baby or child. When a baby dies, bereaved parents can feel very isolated. They may not know anyone else who has had a similar experience. Everyone grieves differently and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Each person needs different types of support and this can change over time.

4Louis believe that parents suffering the loss of a baby or child need to be supported with compassion, empathy and care. Unfortunately, there is very little support within the NHS to help families dealing with child loss.

4Louis are a huge community of people that help other people. They fundraise to provide bereavement rooms and a growing range of memory boxes that provide a special way for bereaved families to store meaningful items and remember their baby. They also provide families and hospitals with essential equipment such as cuddle cots and cuddle blankets.
