There was a distinctively continental flavour to last week as the black and white vest was to be found in no less than three European countries.
In Poland, David Todd and Louise Trainor both completed the half marathon in Warsaw in 1:31:06 and 1:38:22 respectively.
Across the border in the Czech Republic, Ty Hankinson was also competing in a half marathon event, finishing the race held in Prague in 1:41:01.
Meanwhile in France, Adrian Dent took part in the Paris marathon, completing the 26.2 mile distance around the capital in 7:04.
Closer to home, the latest club championship race, the Marina 5 Mile, took place over at Hartlepool. The flat course enabled some runners to set new personal bests as well as claim prizes, due to the event also incorporating a North East Masters event. Michael Joyeux finished the race third overall in a new PB of 26:07. He was followed home by three finishing almost simultaneously, Kyle Cook in 29:51 (PB), Marc Ellis (29:52) and Brian Martin (29:54, PB, finishing both third in his age category and the Masters event, taking the bronze medal). Next to cross the line were Gary Read (32:37), David Mclachlan (34:07), Billy Harris (35:09), Rob Gillham (36:44), Peter Rowley (38:30), Neil Harrington (40:06), Danny Gordon (40:19 finishing both second in his age category and the Masters event, taking the silver medal), Sandra Martin (41:28, PB), Ian Young (41:43), Gillian Harris (42:58, PB), Julie Whinn (43:17), Pamela Barrass (43:18) and Emma Joyeux (46:07).
Further north, Alan Prest was the sole Quaker at the Blyth Valley 10K, finishing the race there in 1:06:55.
A trio of runners headed down to Reading for the half marathon race there. Paul Dalton finishing the distance in 1:20:28 along with Clare Stradling (2:04:07) and Julie Remmer (3:01:14).
Out on the hills, the Blubberhouses 25 mile race took place in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Charlie Bogg and Annette Clark completed the undulating route together in 5:24 with the pair of Michelle Boshier and Abbie Hull coming home in 6:32.
In the Saturday morning parkruns, Dave Jones finished at South Park in 19:24 followed by Michael Joyeux (19:43), Jill Clapp (21:05), Phil Rutter (21:12), Graham Park (21:29), Billy Harris (21:59), Rob Gillham (23:24), Peter Rowley (23:31), Lindsey Lester (24:07), Gary Read (24:25), Nick Wadd (24:47), Colin Smith (25:20), Tracey Plaskitt (25:52), David Ledgerwood (26:21), Gillian Harris (26:53), Julie Whinn (27:23), Sue New (27:24), Lee Morris (28:14), Gill Colling (28:15), Andy Whittam (29:16), Michelle Scruby (29:45), Emma Joyeux (30:49), Sarah Bayles (32:57), Rachel Ryan (33:31), Chrissie Moore (34:33) and Jan Waite (34:54).
Over at Sedgefield, Dave Thompson completed the run there in 23:37 along with Diane Adkins (30:22), Gill Wallis (35:18) and Richard Payne (38:24). At Tees Barrage, Sarah Watson finished in 24:50, followed by Clare Stradling and Paul Dalton (27:20), while Stephen Moore ran at Stewart Park in 22:45.
Flying the flag overseas were David Todd and Louise Trainor, who completed the parkrun in Warsaw in 20:35 and 22:30 respectively.
