Once again, the Easter weekend saw several Quakers heading to the coast in a race which saw the black and white vest famously crossing the line first.

Good Friday saw a large turnout at Marske for the first league race of the season, the Mermaid 10K, where the favourable conditions and flat course meant a lot of runners were able to set new personal bests. Michael Joyeux won the race, breaking the tape in a new PB of 32:47. He was followed in by Marc Ellis (37:42, PB), Brian Martin (37:49, PB and second in his age category), Kyle Cook (39:18, PB), Dawn Richardson (39:30, first in her age category and finishing as third female overall), Dale Chapman (40:01), Rob Dent (40:08), Dave Jones (40:36, PB), Gary Read (40:55, PB), David Todd (41:01), Mark Robinson (41:21), Michael Kay (41:51), Chris Minto (42:36), Phil Rutter (42:48), David Mclachlan (43:31), Paul Roberts (45:18), Ty Hankinson (45:50, PB), Billy Harris (46:20), Rob Gillham (46:37), Peter Rowley (49:06 and third in his age category), Bridget Stewart (49:23), Neil Harrington (50:21), Sandra Martin (53:04, PB and third in her age category), Wendy Noble (56:08, PB), David Ledgerwood (56:17, PB), Gillian Harris (56:13), Gill Colling (56:32, PB), Diane Adkins (58:38), Andrew Dixon (59:37), Michelle Scruby (1:00:22), Lucy Bendle (1:00:47), Lisa Jenkins (1:01:46), Lisa Johnstone (1:02:51) and Lee Morris (1:05:21).

Two of those runners then doubled up for the weekend by heading up to the North Tyneside 10K on Easter Sunday, where Rob Gillham finished in 47:56 along with Diane Adkins in 1:01:00.

Stephen Moore was the sole Quaker to head down to the Helmsley 10K race, completing the multi-terrain route there in 50:34.

Four runners headed over to Kielder Water for the Dark Skies night race, a marathon distance run which took in a route along the entire perimeter of the lake itself. Anthony Corbett and April Corbett finished together in 5 hours 8 minutes, with Mark and Wendy Colling coming home in 5 hours 17 minutes.

The previous week had seen several runners out on the hills for the latest of the Hardmoors events, this time the 55 mile race, which covered a route from Guisborough to Helmsley. Michael King finished the demanding route in 10:45:07, followed by Dave Thompson in 11:30:25 (and also coming first in age category). Anthony Corbett, April Corbett, Sandra Cass and Wendy Colling all finished together in 15:02:42, with Mark Colling and Roy Macdougall not far behind in 15:12:31.

Two others were also out on the North Yorkshire Moors a week earlier for the Blakey Blitz fell race. On a route covering 10.6 miles and taking in over 2800 feet of climb, William Miller finished in 1:51:18 along with Paul Roberts in 2:17:43.

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Dale Chapman finished at South Park in 19:20 followed by Dave Jones (19:35), Ian Readman (19:47), Steve Snook (20:30), David Todd (20:40), Louise Trainor (23:44), Peter Rowley (23:50), Rob Gillham (24:32), Colin Smith (25:11), Gary Read (26:25), Gemma Hammond (26:49), Anna Hardy (26:55), Gemma Marshall (27:44), Matt Jackson (27:51), Lee Morris (29:49), Rebecca Bowes (29:55), Nigel Walker (32:19), Lucy Bendle (32:21), Michael King (32:28), Chrissie Moore (34:04), Rachel Ryan (34:12), Jan Waite (34:13), Paul Ryan (34:16) and Adrian Dent (36:06).

At Tees Barrage, Dave Thompson and Steven Moore finished in 23:28 and 23:29 respectively, while Nick Mason did the run at Albert Park in 19:33.
