While some Quakers stayed fairly local for their races, a few runners were busy flying the black and white flag overseas.

At the Snake Lane 10 mile race at Pocklington, near York, Paul Dalton completed the fairly flat course in 59:15 (and third in his age category) along with Neil Harrington (1:22:04) and Clare Stradling (1:30:37).

Out on the hills, Paul Roberts was the sole Quaker at the Glaisdale Rigg fell race. Covering 8.5 miles and taking in over 1800 feet of climb, he finished the run in 1:35:20.

Overseas, in Florida, Lewis and Michelle Boshier completed an enchanting 10K race held around the Disneyland Resort, finishing together in 1:03:23.

The previous week had seen two runners heading down to the Costa Brava for the Barcelona half marathon, where Diane Vaughan finished the 13.1 mile distance in 1:41:32 along with Richard Hughes in 1:46:08.

A week earlier had also seen the first of this year’s Hardmoors Trail series, this time at Saltburn. In the marathon distance, Anthony Corbett finished in 6:15:10 along with Mark Colling in 6:46:24. In the half marathon distance, Michael Joyeux was first across the line in 1:48:40, retaining the title he won last year. He was followed by Andrew Vernon (2:28:27), Gary Read (2:32:00), Gavin Armstrong (2:42:35), Sarah Watson (2:53:07), Rebecca Bowes (2:53:11), Michelle Boshier (3:47:30) and Steven Johnston (3:47:33).

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Michael Joyeux finished at South Park in 18:34 followed by Dave Jones (19:02), Nick Mason (19:37), Richard Coulson (20:37), David Todd (21:01), Phil Rutter (21:26), Paul Roberts (22:21), Rob Gillham (22:43), Gavin Armstrong (22:59), Billy Harris (23:04), Adrian Gooding (23:05), David Whittle (23:35), Iain Clyde (23:41), Peter Rowley (23:42), Ty Hankinson (24:10), Gary Read (24:12), Sue Woodcock (25:33), Lyn Hatch (25:38), Julie Whinn (26:04), David Ledgerwood (26:40), Rebecca Bowes (26:57), Lauren Wheeldon (27:01), Gill Colling (28:18), Joanne Dewar (29:16), Michelle Scruby (29:43), Michael King (31:48) and Jan Waite (37:23).

At Sedgefield, Rob Dent finished in 20:02 along with April Corbett (26:04), Anthony Corbett (27:43), Wendy Colling (30:17), Sandra Cass (30:24), Mark Colling (30:25), Diane Adkins (32:37), Gill Wallis (35:17) and Adrian Dent (44:15). At Albert Park, Stephen Moore ran there in 21:43 along with Neil Harrington (25:15), while at Northallerton, Andrew Vernon and Sarah Watson finished in 21:50 and 25:57 respectively. Alan Prest did the Durham run in 32:47, while Anna Hardy finished the Gibside run in 31:58.
