In one of the more quiet weeks for a while, most Quakers were to be found heading down into the woods in the last seven days.

Midweek saw the sixth race of the Stockton Summer 5K trail series take place at Wynyard. First home over the one lap woodland course was Rob Dent in 21:17 followed by Dale Chapman (21:27), Ewan Henderson (23:08), Gary Read (24:26), Richard Hughes (25:03), Diane Vaughan (25:48), Abbie Hull (27:34), Danny Gordon (27:38), Andrew Dixon (27:49), Lewis Boshier (29:06), Michelle Boshier (29:06), Janet Bowlby (29:31), Matt Jackson (31:02), Wendy Noble (31:32) and Diane Adkins (35:11).

North of the border, Paula Roberts did the Roon the Risk 10K race in Newton Steward, Dumfries, finishing the fairly hilly route in 1:09:26.

The previous week had seen a large turnout at the latest Hardmoors trail event at Saltburn. Mark and Wendy Colling completed the marathon distance together in 6:27:29, the latter also being recognised for becoming just the eighth person to complete 1000 Hardmoors miles. In the half marathon, Michael Joyeux crossed the line first in 1:48:36, coming in an impressive 13 minutes ahead of the second placed finisher. Next home was David Todd in 2:24:47 followed by Phil Rutter (2:28:46), Gary Read (2:36:36), Anthony Corbett (2:48:30), Ty Hankinson (2:48:33), Sandra Cass (3:19:46), April Corbett (3:19:51), Nicola Howe (3:19:52) and Michelle Boshier, Rebecca Bowes and Rebecca Howard who all finished together in 3:21:58. In the 10K distance, Jamie Norman completed the run in 1:13:57 along with Claire Norman (1:24:16) and Diane Adkins & Gill Colling who came in together in 1:36:06 and in doing so jointly won their age category.

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Michael Joyeux finished the run at South Park in 17:16 followed by Peter Commane (18:43), Marc Ellis (18:49), Andrew Vernon (20:08), Nick Mason (20:20), Graham Park (20:53), Ewan Henderson (21:12), Richard Hughes (21:30), Phil Clarke (22:05), Steve Mcallister (22:08), Diane Vaughan (22:29), Simon Farley-Smith (23:12), Iain Clyde (24:04), Paul Roberts (24:26), Rebecca Bowes (25:22), Colin Smith (25:52), Mark Blewitt (26:39), Lewis Boshier (27:04), Gary Read (27:05), Michelle Boshier (27:05), Sarah Watson (27:19), Neil Harrington (27:26), Mark Trowles (27:29), Sally Singleton (27:50), Jeff Marriott (28:38), Hazel Commane (31:30), Paul Ryan (31:51), Fin Fox (32:04), Joanne Dewar (33:39) and Linda Harrington (39:49).

At Sedgefield, Julie Whinn finished the run in 28:39 along with Diane Adkins (33:54) and Anthony Corbett (33:55), while Phil Rutter completed the run at Hackworth in 21:48. At Northallerton, Ty Hankinson finished in 22:47 followed by Peter Rowley (26:07) and Abbie Hull (27:20), John Brant ran at Tees Barrage in 25:58, and Stephen Moore did the run at Albert Park in 22:11. Among the tourists, Kevin Scott did the run at Harrogate in 27:29 while Rob Gillham headed to the south coast to complete the run at Poole in 22:26.
