Darlington was awash with black and white vests on Sunday as a record breaking 123 Quakers turned out for the home 10K race, including one celebrating his 71st birthday!

The 28th running of the two lap course around the town also saw three runners taking second place in their age categories. Off road, seven runners completed the Hanging Stone Leap, which started at Guisborough then off into the North Yorkshire Moors. Over the 13 mile route Michelle Boshier and Claire Norman finished the distance in 2:57 and 3:01 respectively. In the 24 mile distance, Dave Thompson and Annette Clarke came in together in 5:20, followed by Abbie Hull (5:35), Andrew Lambe (5:46) and Charlie Bogg (5:53).

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Dawn Richardson finished at South Park in 20:19, followed by Richard Coulson (20:22), David Todd (21:17), Phil Rutter (22:11), Dale Chapman (22:21), Louise Trainor (22:23), Mark Robinson (22:32), Michael Joyeux (22:32), Rob Gillham (23:53), Steve Mcallister (25:40), Gemma Marshall (27:10), Jeff Marriott (28:17), Lee Morris (28:56), Caroline Ridley-Marriott (30:57), Duncan O’neil (32:06), Mark Trowles (32:51) and Simon Farley-Smith (33:24).

At Albert Park, Stephen Moore finished in 21:07, along with Paul Dalton (25:20) and Clare Stradling (25:20), while at Sedgefield, Jill Wallis and Diane Adkins ran there in 35:21 and 43:29 respectively. At Northallerton, Peter Rowley completed the run in 26:04 along with Lyn Hatch (27:05), while Emily Beaumont did the run at Tees Barrage in 43:44.

Amongst the tourists, Ty Hankinson did the run at Sunderland in 23:17, Jez Smith ran at Sheffield in 33:53, while north of the border, Lorraine Batts completed the run at Inverness in 38:59.
