It was a busy week for runners last week with Quakers at various ends of the country in search of races.

At the Haweswater half marathon, Wendy Colling completed the 13.1 mile distance in 1:49:41 along with Mark Colling (1:51:39), Robert Kirby (1:59:06), Sandra Cass (2:01:39) and Nicola Howe (2:11:07). Also running the same distance was Nick Mason who completed the half marathon down in Bath in 1:26:00.

In Yorkshire, Diane Vaughan and Diane Adkins completed the Minsterway 5K – a one-off event on the newly constructed Beverley Bypass before it is officially opened to traffic – in 23:05 and 33:12 respectively, while in Doncaster, Peter Rowley completed the Norton 9 mile run in 1:14:09.

The latest event in the Stockton Winter 5K series took place at Ropner Park. Dale Chapman was first home for the club in 20:18, followed by Andrew Vernon (20:42), Ewan Henderson (21:27), Gary Read (21:28), Louise Trainor (21:48), Stephen Moore (22:04), Gavin Armstrong (22:41), Rebecca Howard (22:54), Phill Hall (24:34), Danny Gordon (24:44), Sarah Watson (26:09), Paula Roberts (28:29), Paul Roberts (28:30) and Emily Beaumont (30:34).

Midweek saw the second of this winter’s 5K night trail race. Ewan Henderson finished the headtorch-lit route in 21:19 along with Darren Wright (21:25), Gary Read (22:06), Phill Hall (23:47), Matt Jackson (26:29), Rebecca Bowes (26:49), Emily Beaumont (33:00) and Diane Adkins (37:10).

A special mention must go to Ian Readman who came 11th in the Hamsterley Duathlon event. Comprising a 13 mountain bike section either side of a 5.5K and 4.5K trail run, he finished in 1:32:46.

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Peter Commane did the South Park run in 19:16, along with Dale Chapman (19:49), Rob Dent (19:52), Richard Coulson (20:28), Phil Clarke (20:30), Michael Joyeux (20:36), Phil Rutter (21:38), Zoe Rothery (22:05), Gary Read (22:15), Phill Hall (22:24, PB), Gavin Armstrong (22:39), Peter Rowley (23:15), Mark Blewitt (25:53), Sarah Watson (25:53), Paul Ryan (26:54), Steven Johnston (28:31), Joanne Dewar (28:34), Diane Vaughan (28:34), Fin Fox (29:32), Lisa Johnstone (29:47), Paula Roberts (30:21), Mark Trowles (30:21), Lee Morris (31:02), Michael King (31:29) and Aidan Robertson (34:57).

At Sedgefield, Dave Thompson completed the run there in 22:56, followed by Richard Payne (25:57), Jeff Marriott (27:52), Mark Colling  (27:52), Abbie Hull (32:13), Diane Adkins (33:25) and Jill Wallis (36:13), while at Tees Barrage, Paul Appleton finished in 25:07 along with John Brant (27:00) and Jeanette Appleton (28:51).

At Albert Park, Stephen Moore did the run there in 22:25, David Todd did the Hackworth run in 20:45, while down in London, Clare Apps ran the Highbury Fields run in 22:48.
