Several Quakers shook off the January blues with a weekend trip to the latest cross country race, at a fairly muddy and windy Hartlepool.

The women’s race, which also included the over 70 men, took place over 4.6K. Lesley Miller finished the route in 22:52, followed by Danny Gordon (23:34), Bev Snook (24:32), Sarah Watson (24:46), Hannah Robinson (27:04) and Paula Roberts (30:29).

In the men’s race which covered 8.9K, Michael Parry completed the course in 36:32 along with Brian Martin (37:59), Michael Kay (40:44), Andrew Vernon (40:46), Ian Bond (40:59), Mark Tallon (41:23), Darren Wright (42:50), Darren Stockdale (43:29), Phil Rutter (43:43), Graham Park (44:01), Phil Clarke (44:53), Gary Read (45:04), Paul Roberts (45:15), Ty Hankinson (46:06), Michael Oliver (47:30), David Aiken (47:44), Stephen McAllister (49:57), Gavin Armstrong (53:51) and Phil Hall (57:09).

Two Quakers braved the strong winds and freezing temperatures for the Three Sisters night race, the route taking in the heights of both Clay Bank and Lordstones. Matt Capsey finished the 6.8 mile route in 1:15:47 along with Michael King in 1:31:16.

The usual trio were out on the hills once again, this time for the Scarborough Rock 25 mile event. Dave Thompson completed the windy route in 4 hours 52 minutes, with Annette Clarke and Charlie Bogg finishing together in 5 hours 54 minutes.

The fourth race in the Stockton Winter 5K trail series took place at Acklam. Ewan Henderson completed the course there in 21:53 followed by Katherine Hackett (22:35 and second female finisher), Rob Dent (23:00), Louise Trainor (23:13 and third female finisher), Stephen Moore (23:28), Ty Hankinson (23:47), Paul Roberts (23:48), Gary Read (23:59), Dale Chapman (24:35), David Aiken (24:57), Gavin Armstrong (25:44), Phil Hall (27:19) and Diane Adkins (34:07).

The previous weekend had also seen the Clay Bank East fell race. Paul Dalton was the sole Quaker there, finishing the 5.7 mile route in 44:36.

The cancellation of the South Park run due to fallen trees left many in a mad dash to find an alternative. At Sedgefield, Paul Roberts finished in 23:04 followed by Phill Hall (26:37), Dale Chapman (26:38), Gary Read (26:38), Richard Payne (27:06), Sandra Cass (27:20), April Corbett (27:20), Wendy Colling (27:20), Mark Colling (27:39), Julie Whinn (27:50), Sally Singleton (31:17) and Diane Adkins (32:37).

At Tees Barrage, Paul Appleton finished in 25:48 along with John Brant (27:49) and Jeanette Appleton (28:50), while at Albert Park Stephen Moore and Ty Hankinson did the run there in 21:11 and 21:56 respectively.

Colin Wild completed the Hackworth run in 23:30, Mark Tallon and Darren Stockdale did the Druridge Bay run in 21:26 and 21:41 respectively, while at the other end of the globe, Sarah Davies did the parkrun in Auckland, New Zealand in 30:09.
