The weather certainly wasn’t kind to Quakers last weekend, with most wishing they’d probably packed their swimming costumes rather than their running kit!

Most headed up to Newcastle for the latest 10K league race at Heaton, where, despite the windy conditions, the flat course enabled runners to set both PB’s and a club record. First home for the club over the two-lap route around the Town Moor was Paul Dalton in 35:29 (and second in his age category), followed by Brian Martin (38:59 and also second in his age category), Rob Dent (39:56, PB), Andrew Vernon (40:37), Darren Wright (41:45, PB), Rob Gillham (45:02), Neil Harrington (48:30), Sarah Watson (50:47), Clare Stradling (51:34), James Simpson (52:04), Pamela Barrass (54:04), Ian Young (55:08) and Sally Singleton (58:21, finishing third in her age category and setting a new club record too).

Also taking place in Newcastle, though later on in the day, was one of the many “Mo Runs” held across the country. In the 10K race, Julien Deckard finished in 58:14 while Juelz-Lee Deckard completed the 5K race in 31:26.

Three headed down near Leeds for the fairly wet and muddy Harewood Trail Races. In the 10 mile event, which took in parts of the Harewood House estate and even went past the set of Emmerdale, Richard Payne finished in 1:34:11 along with Alan Prest in 2:02:13. Meanwhile in the 5 mile event, Peter Rowley completed the run in 45:37 (and finishing first in his age category).

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Dale Chapman finished at a very wet South Park in 20:01, followed by Dave Jones (20:16), Steve Snook (21:05), Richard Coulson (21:06), Phil Rutter (21:36), Paul Roberts (22:20), David Whittle (22:58), Simon Farley-Smith (23:08), Gavin Armstrong (23:59), Rebecca Bowes (25:32), Michelle Boshier (26:45), Lewis Boshier (26:45), Duncan O’neil (28:13), Wendy Noble (28:13), Lee Morris (28:56), James Simpson (29:03), Paul Ryan (29:20), Gill Colling (29:49), Laura Adams (31:22), Michael King (33:52), Jan Waite (34:05), Lucy Bendle (36:11), Rob Gillham (39:07) and Gary Read (43:32).

There was a Quaker 1-2 finish at the Hartlepool run where Michael Joyeux finished in 17:23, just ahead of Paul Dalton in 17:41. Over at Sedgefield, Julie Whinn completed the run in 27:34, along with Emily Mann (27:40), Diane Adkins (35:02) and Jill Wallis (35:14). Stephen Moore ran at Albert Park in 22:42, while Rebecca Howard headed down to Fountains Abbey, finishing there in 22:51.
