It was one extreme to the other for Quakers last week with a multitude of distances and terrains on offer around the region.
Midweek saw the latest club championship race take place at the Summer Coast Road 5K in Redcar. Birthday boy Paul Dalton was first home for the club in 17:42, followed by Nick Mason (18:39), Rob Dent (18:40, PB), Brian Martin (18:52, PB and first in his age category), Dale Chapman (19:33), Mark Robinson (19:46), Gary Read (20:38, PB), Chris Minto (20:41), Richard Hughes (20:54), Diane Vaughan (21:38), Mark Colling (21:43, PB), Stephen Mcallister (21:56, PB), Wendy Colling (22:29), Ty Hankinson (22:46), Jessica Campbell (23:42), Daniel Gordon (24:08), Julie Jefferies (24:38), Julie Whinn (25:44), Emma Whitworth (28:03), Gill Collling (28:04), Emily Mann (28:48) and Diane Adkins (29:55).
The fourth round of the Stockton Summer 5K trail series also took place during midweek, at the new venue of Lordstones, up by Carlton Bank. First home for the club over the undulating course was Mark Robinson in 20:04, followed by Ewan Henderson (20:14), Rob Dent (20:19), Dawn Richardson (20:48), Dale Chapman (21:06), Richard Hughes (21:59), Gary Read (23:09), Mark Colling (23:13), Anthony Corbett (23:18), Diane Vaughan (24:36), Abbie Hull (25:05), April Corbett (25:06), Richard Payne (25:19), Daniel Gordon (26:02), Matt Jackson (26:37), Kirsten Himsworth (28:49), Rebecca Howard (28:50) and Diane Adkins (33:40).
For those runners who headed to Hamsterley Forest, there was a mixture of distances to choose from. In the 11.3 mile race, Michael Joyeux crossed the line first in 1:09:56, with Michael Oliver finishing in 1:37:31. In the 18.8 mile event, Brian Martin finished second overall in 2:17:44, with Diane Adkins completing the course in 3:52:18, while Mark Robinson ran the full 26.2 mile marathon distance in 3:50:50.
The previous week had also seen four runners complete the Whorlton Run fell race, covering 5.7 miles and over 1,300 feet of ascent. Anthony Corbett, April Corbett and Sandra Cass all finished in 1:07:09 along with Nicola Howe in 1:12:09.
In the Saturday morning parkruns, Dale Chapman was first home at South Park in 19:11, followed by Dawn Richardson (19:46), Zoe Rothery (22:20), Peter Rowley (22:44), Jeff Marriott (24:09), David Hood (24:39), Sarah Watson (25:09), Beverley Snook (25:14, PB), Duncan O’neil (26:37), Sally Singleton (28:15), Kevin Bartram (29:01), Michael King (30:12), Glyn Casswell (30:28) and Adrian Dent (36:11).
At Sedgefield, Paul Roberts finished in 21:40, along with Mark Colling (22:57) and Jill Wallis (41:08). Steve McAllister ran at Hackworth in 22:38, while Jeanette Appleton did Tees Barrage in 27:59. Further afield Paul Dalton did the Edinburgh parkrun in 17:33 while Steve Johnston ran at Cuerden Valley, Lancashire in 28:52.
