On the weekend which featured the summer solstice, some Quakers had their very own longest day on Sunday, as they took part in the Cleveland Way Relay.
Taking in the length of the Cleveland Way itself, the runners covered the 109 miles from Filey to Helmsley over 16 legs, despite a few hiccups along the way. Those taking part, on a day when the weather was kind for once, were Grainne Duffy, Leigh Padgett, Steve Padgett, Michelle Boshier, Sarah Watson, Nick Watson, Ben Lester, Lindsay Lester, Ian Hammond, John Whinn, Julie Whinn, Ian Bond, Wendy Colling, Mark Colling, Graham Park, Sue New, Steven Moore, Darryn Wood, Roy McDougall, Alec Cinnamon, Clare Dodsworth, Anthony Corbett, April Corbett, Jackie Nicholls, Rob Dent, Jeff Marriott, Mark Tallon, Abbie Hull and Ty Hankinson (even though he initially turned up for the event a day early!).
A few other runners also ventured off road on Sunday, this time at the Preston Park 10K trail race. Chris Jakeman was first home for the club in 46:22, followed by Gary Read (49:09), Danny Gordon (53:20), Peter Rowley (54:19) and Jessica Campbell (54:56).
Meanwhile down in Knaresborough, Nick Mason ran the Staveley Stampede 10k race in 39:21.
The latest NYSD event took place at Eastbourne track, where the warm weather made for ideal running conditions. In the 200m Michael Kay posted a new club record of 27.50, while Chris Minto finished in 30.20 (PB). In the 3000 metres, Michael Parry put in another quick performance, finishing in 9:33.
An honourable mention must go to Mark Robinson who won the “Beer Mile” event on Saturday morning, where those spectators that got up early enough witnessed the almost unprecedented sight of Michael Joyeux being lapped.
One hour later, however, Michael showed no ill effects in finishing first at the parkrun at South Park in 17:24, followed by Paul Dalton (17:49), Mark Robinson (19:28), Steve Snook (20:15), Michael Kay (20:30), Richard Hughes (20:46), Ewan Henderson (20:49), Rob Gillham (20:52), Phil Rutter (20:52), Chris Minto (21:09), Katie Barker (21:19), Zoe Rothery (22:32), Steve Mcallister (22:34), Gary Read (22:55), Ian Stephenson (23:05), Jeff Marriott (25:00), David Hood (25:20), Alec Cinamon (25:32), Lewis Boshier (27:50), Michelle Boshier (27:51), Duncan O’neil (28:02), Sally Singleton (28:26), Gillian Harris (28:56), Darryn Wood (29:02), James Simpson (29:02, PB), Sara Kingdon (29:38), Michael King (31:16) and Charlotte Jones (33:02).

Over at Albert Park, Rob Dent finished in 19:23, followed by Stephen Moore (20:43) and Adrian Dent (37:45), while at Hackworth Anthony and April Corbett finished in 22:55 and 24:27 respectively. Paul Keedy did Tees Barrage in 22:26, along with John Brant (25:57) and Jeanette Appleton (28:07), while down in London Dave Todd and Lou Trainor did the parkrun at Bushy Park in 20:31 and 22:27 respectively.
From the looks on their faces it’s clear to see this photo was taken at the end of Ian Bond and Mark Tallon’s leg of the Cleveland Way Relay!
