Several Quakers made the most of the extra day off work last Monday, heading just down the road to complete the Tees Barrage 10K race. First home around the riverside course was Rob Dent in 41:34, followed by Dawn Richardson (who survived a nasty fall early on) in 41:56 and Rob Gillham (completing his third 10K race of the weekend) in 43:27. Next to finish was Peter Rowley in 47:05 along with Michael Oliver (47:16), Paul Appleton (50:13), John Brant (52:27), Pamela Barrass (54:36), Colin Smith (54:45), Jeanette Appleton (56:38), Jamie Burn (57:49), Kevin Simpson (57:55) and Linda & Neil Harrington who finished together in 1:15:48.

At the weekend, four runners turned up for the Pier to Pier event, a 7.5 mile race starting on the beach at South Shields Pier and finishing on Roker Beach, Sunderland. Nick Mason was first to finish in 47:18, followed by Robert Kirby (1:01:20), Claire Norman (1:11:31) and Alan Prest (1:12:36).

Two somewhat hilly half marathons were on the calendar last week. At Leeds, Michael Oliver finished the 13.1 mile course in 1:45:53 (PB), along with Neil Harrington in 1:49:11 and Bridget Stewart in 1:56:15 (PB).

Over on the coast at a fairly windy Ravenscar, Anthony Corbett was first home there in 2:08:21, just ahead of Abbie Hull in 2:08:24. Also running were Wendy Colling (2:14:48), Julie Whinn (2:30:58), April Corbett (2:30:58), Sandra Cass (2:31:12) and Diane Adkins (2:55:59).

Midweek saw the latest Club Championship race, with 11 Quakers turning up for the Carlton Challenge, a 5 mile route around Carlton Bank which took in a climb of almost 1,200 feet. First home and fifth overall was Michael Joyeux in 38:40, followed by Brian Martin (42:40),  Mark Robinson (47:11), Ian Bond (47:13), Rob Dent (50:10), Darren Stockdale (50:15), Mark Colling (52:29), Abbie Hull (54:08), Daniel Gordon (1:00:18), Wendy Colling (1:00:19) and Emma Whitworth (1:08:50).

In the Saturday morning Parkruns, Paul Dalton was first home at South Park in 17:25, followed by Nick Mason (19:33), Michael Kay (19:34), Michael Joyeux (19:38), Steven Snook (20:20), Ewan Henderson (20:39), David Todd (20:57), Dale Chapman (21:00), Chris Minto (21:05), David Mclachlan (21:44), Steve Mcallister (22:08), Gary Read (23:42), Iain Clyde (23:48), Jeff Marriott (24:58), Paul Hutchinson (25:32), Colin Smith (25:44), Wendy Noble (27:27), Aidan Robertson (28:19), Sally Singleton (28:45), Duncan O’neil (29:39), Rob Gillham (30:20), Emma Whitworth (34:36) and Gillian Harris (34:36)

At Sedgefield, Paul Roberts was first home in 22:18, followed by Wendy Colling (24:30), Abbie Hull (24:33), April Corbett (24:54), Anthony Corbett (26:08), Nicola Howe (26:40), Sandra Cass (30:04), Diane Adkins (31:55), Lorraine Batts (36:59) and Jill Wallis (45:48). At Hackworth, Mark Colling and Gill Colling completed the course in 23:26 and 29:39 respectively, Stephen Moore ran 20:27 at Albert Park and Paul Appleton ran 25:22 at Tees Barrage. Further afield Peter Rowley completed the Coventry run in 23:41 while Alec Cinamon did the Eastbourne run in 26:44.
