Quakers travelled the length and breadth of the country last week to take part in a variety of races.

Three runners headed off to do the East Hull 20 mile race and, on an unusually sunny March morning which left some people wishing they’d packed their sun cream, Rob Dent was first home for the club, completing the fairly flat course in 2:42:37, followed by Wendy Colling (2:57:48) and Bridget Stewart (3:06:22).

On the other side of the country, at the much more undulating Dentdale Run, Michael Joyeux headed a group of Quakers there, completing the 14.2 mile course in 1:25:26. Held on a rather pleasant spring afternoon, he was followed home by Colin Wild (1:39:28), David Thompson (1:47:28), Michael Oliver (2:02:21), Mark Colling (2:08:42), Neil Scollick (2:14:56), April Corbett (2:15:07), Anthony Corbett (2:15:09) and Julie Whinn (2:21:21).

Heading down south was Paul Roberts who completed the Retford half marathon in Nottinghamshire in a time of 1:41:41.

Meanwhile closer to home, the Locke Park 20 mile race in Redcar, which comprised a somewhat unusual 20 x 1 mile lap route, saw Mark Robinson (2:28:35) and Nick Mason (2:30) both turn out for the club, while Abbie Hull was the sole Quaker at the Falcon Flyer event in the North Yorkshire Moors, completing the 15 mile course, which took in an ascent of over 2,000 feet, in 2 hours 55 minutes.

Off road, the latest Stockton Park Trail race took place with several Quakers making the short trip over to Ropner Park. Paul Dalton was the first Quaker home, and fourth finisher overall, completing the 5K course in 17:44 and was followed in by Ewan Henderson  (22:06), Ty Hankinson (22:43), Gary Read (22:51), Neil Harrington (23:06), Danny Gordon (23:33), Matt Jackson (23:57), Mark Colling (24:35), Aiden Robertson (27:21), Darryn Wood (29:32) and Diane Adkins (30:01). The previous weekend had also seen Charlie Bogg and Dave Thompson complete the 23 mile Derwent Water Amble, taking in over 4,000 feet of climb in 6 hours 1 minute.

In the Saturday morning Parkruns, Paul Dalton was second finisher at South Park in 17:42, followed by Peter Commane (18:25), Michael Kay (19:43), Dawn Richardson (20:19), Steven Snook (20:28), Richard Coulson (20:43), Dale Chapman (21:00), Rob Gillham (21:23), Peter Rowley (21:55), Michael Watson (23:22), Jeff Marriott (24:05), John Brant (24:14), Danny Gordon (24:52), Timothy Francis (25:12), Darryn Wood (25:57), Anneli Mackenzie Brown (27:12), Nigel Walker (27:14), Sandra Martin (28:20), Gary Read (29:23), Michael King (30:19), Lisa Burton, (31:49), Julie Wright, (31:56), Linda Harrington (34:30), Hazel Commane (35:12).
