Richmond played host to the final NYSD Cross Country event last weekend.  The course was made up of a long uphill climb (which was straight into a strong headwind), before turning into a gentle ascent into a muddy bend which led back to the original hill.  The ladies completed 2 laps, with the men completing 4.  In the men’s event, Dean Newton was the overall winner, finishing in an impressive 35:06.  Michael Kay was next Quaker home in 46:38, followed by Mark Tallon in 46:48, Steve Snook in 48:07, Dave McLachlan in 49:22, Graham Park in 49:29, Mark Colling in 52:24 and Daniel Crane in 57:21.  Bev Snook was the sole lady in attendance for the Quakers, battling the conditions to record 31:34.

 Abbie Hull was the Quakers representative at the “Broughton Woods Wobble”, completing the 4.5 mile route which included 1,200 feet of ascent in 1:06:30.

In local park runs on Saturday, Quakers took part in events at Sedgefield, Albert Park, Tees Barrage, Chester le Street and Darlington.  Sedgefield was completed by Mark Colling (23:18), Wendy Colling (24:46), Abbie Hull (24:48), April Corbett (25:37), Gill Colling (29:52), Diane Adkins (32:52) and Jill Wallis (47:05).  At Albert Park, Stephen Moore finished in 20:24, whilst at Chester le Street’s Riverside event, Ty Hankinson recorded 23:36.  At Tees Barrage, Paul Dunn, Paul Appleton and Jeanette Appleton finished in 25:18, 26:35 and 29:00 respectively.  Darlington saw Paul Dalton finish first for the club in 17:39 ahead of Peter Commane (18:34), Charles Herrington (19:23), Richard Coulson (20:34), Dale Chapman (21:33), Paul Roberts (21:49), Peter Rowley (23:00), Iain Clyde (23:34), Zoe Rothery (23:49), Matt Jackson (24:50), John Brant (25:00), Jeff Marriott (25:30), Ingrid Gunning (25:55), Aiden Robertson (28:00), Lewis Boshier (28:44), Kristy Burkin (29:20), Michael King (31:37), Grainne Duffy (33:34), Darryn Wood (36:37) and Gary Read (39:15).
