Last Friday evening, several Quakers lined up for the Tees
Trail Series finale at Ropner Park.  Dean
Newton finished the 5k race in second place with an impressive 16:29, followed
by Michael Joyeux in 17:27 and Paul Dalton in 17:54.  Michal Ondrej (19:17), narrowly beat Colin
Wild (19:20) to the finish line whilst Lucy Jefferies (19:48) managed to keep
ahead of Darren Stockdale (19:55).  Also
running in the event for the Quakers were Nic Hollindale (21:39), Diane Vaughan
(22:25), Paul Jefferies (22:39), Danny Gordon (23:59), Richard Hughes (25:02),
Richard Payne (25:27), Aiden Robertson (25:43), Paul Hutchinson (25:52), Matt
Jackson (25:57) and Emma Whitworth (40:00).

On Saturday, eight members of the club took part in the
Smuggler’s Trod in North Yorkshire. 
Annette Clark was second lady overall as she finished the 25 mile trail
route with Dave Thompson and Charlie Bogg in 5:05.  Anthony Corbett was next home for the Quakers
in 5:20, whilst Diane Gardiner, Sandra Cass, April Corbett and Wendy Colling
completed the course together in 8:22.

Also on Saturday, Corinne Murray ran in the Honley 10k Trail
Race, finishing in 49:11 whilst on Sunday; Graham Park completed the Fleetwood
Half Marathon in 1:44:37.  In previous
weeks, Nick Wadd took part in the Guisborough Grunt Fell Race, finishing the
extremely hilly route in 48:22.

Over the usual
local park runs, Stephen Moore completed the Albert Park 5k in 20:08, whilst
Alan Prest took part in the Durham event, finishing in 30:37.  At
Sedgefield, Mark Colling and Abbie Hull completed the undulating route in 25:09
and 26:47 respectively, with Paul and Jeanette Appleton running the Tees
Barrage course in 26:32 and 32:06.  At Darlington, Dean Newton was first
finisher over the 3 lap course in 16:33, followed by Darren Stockdale (19:51),
Steve Snook (21:21), Nic Hollindale (22:12), Steve McAllister (22:59),
Neil Harrington (23:15), Timothy Francis (25:06), Karen Ives (26:23), Matt
Jackson (27:31), Michael King (29:31), Sally Singleton (30:04) and Jill Wallis
(34:37).  Further afield, Michael Joyeux
and Emma Whitworth took part in the Shorne Woods event in Gravesend, finishing
in 18:40 and 28:36 respectively, Michael finishing as first runner overall.

Training sessions are held at and around the club’s base at Queen
Elizabeth 6th Form College Playing Fields, Abbey Road, Darlington (DL3 8LR) on
the west side of Darlington. The sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday
evening from 6:30pm until 8:00pm and are open to all.
