Quakers’ ultra runners were in action over the bank holiday weekend. In the Hardmoors 110, Wendy Colling ran from Helmsley to Filey, following the Cleveland Way. She completed the 113 miles in 32:32:26, and was 5th lady overall. Also running in the event were Anthony Corbett, Roy MacDougall, Diane Gardiner, April Corbett and Diane Adkins who each completed between 13 and 45 miles of the route. In the South West of England, Dave Thompson ran the 100 miles from Wadebridge in Cornwall to Teignmouth on the Devon Coast in 27:57 in the LDWA organised event.
Following on from other recent marathons, Edinburgh hosted their event at the weekend. Sarah Wilson was first home for the club in 3:58:07 whilst Mark Robinson accompanied fellow Quaker Paul Keedy as they completed the 26.2 mile race in 4:03:44.
The popular Raby Castle 10k race took place last weekend, and saw Michael Joyeux put in a good performance to finish second overall in 35:50. Chris Jakeman was next home for the Quakers in 40:50, followed by Nick Mason in 41:43 and David Todd in 42:44, with Nick finishing third in his age group. Catherine Hackett was first lady home for the club in 43:14, and was also first in her age group, whilst Rob Dent, Stephen Moore and Michael Kaye finished in 44:00, 44:23 and 44:45 respectively. Darren Stockdale completed the hilly course in 45:49, just ahead of Dawn Richardson and Steve Snook who finished together in 45:54, Dawn taking second place in her age group. Also representing the Quakers were Chris Minto (46:49), Andrew Walker (47:21), Rob Gillham (48:12), Paul Roberts (48:34), Paul Jefferies (49:17), Diane Vaughan (49:24 and third in her age group), Jeff Marriott (49:29), Peter Rowley (49:34), Ingrid Gunning (50:03), Danny Gordon (50:10 and first in his age group), Iain Clyde (51:25), Neil Harrington (51:42), Nigel Walker (52:19), Paul Appleton (53:23), Ty Hankinson (54:50), Darryn Wood (55:47), Julie Whinn (55:49 and third in her age group), Paul Hutchinson (56:12), Matt Jackson (56:32), John Brant (57:15), Pam Barrass (58:18), Clare Stradling (58:19), Richard Hughes (58:46), John Whinn (59:18), Colin Smith (59:36), Kristy Burkin (59:56), Jeanette Appleton (61:42), Emily Mann (63:30), Michael King (64:45) and Julie Remmer (74:18). In the 5k race, Graham Park (23:27), Michael Robinson (27:39), Lewis Boshier (28:14) and Sue New (32:45) all ran for the club.
Park runs were once again well attended across the region. At Albert Park, Nick Mason finished in 18:57, ahead of Stephen Moore in 20:30 and Corinne Murray who was first lady overall in 20:45. At Tees Barrage, Paul Appleton was the sole Quaker running, finishing in 24:48, whilst at Darlington, Michael Joyeux was first Quaker home in 18:05 followed by Nick Wadd (19:20), Darren Stockdale (20:17), Paul Roberts (21:16), Patrick Robson (21:45), Ewan Henderson (21:50), Jeff Marriott (22:35), Peter Rowley (22:43), Julie Whinn (24:53), Paul Hutchinson (26:04), Gillian Harris (26:57), Grainne Duffy (34:14), Jill Wallis (34:15), Adrian Dent (38:47) and Darryn Wood (39:11).
