St Teresa’s Hospice is a charity close to many members’ hearts. They offer palliative and end of life care and support to people with life-limiting illness, and to their families/carers. Their aim is to provide the best possible care for those who need it, enhancing quality of life and helping people live with their illness, as comfortably as possible. It costs £3m a year to maintain their services.

Last year QRC members fundraised in memory of Paul’s wife, Rachel. On behalf of Quakers Running Club Paul, Ruth and April presented a cheque for £1152.05 to St Teresa’s. Events included a cake sale, Quiz night hosted by Quizmaster James Atkinson, a day trip to York, the Christmas Party and sales of surplus Quakers kit.

Quakers Running Club’s social committee promote an inclusive and friendly community culture outside of the running environment, actively engaging with members to ensure the club is seen as welcoming and friendly to members and non-members. Over the years, various local charities have been supported and previous fundraising events have included annual club presentation nights, ceilidhs, quiz nights, picnics in the park, litter picks, race nights, lottery bonus balls and Christmas parties.

Quakers’ chosen charity this year is the MS Society.
