Championship Update

Paul Dalton did the double; winning two events on the trot. He took 50 points at the Auckland Castle Trail Race and followed it up three days later at Roseberry Topping.

A huge contingent of Quakers turned out on a soggy Sunday morning for the trail run in Bishop Auckland. It was an excellent one lap course, which everyone seemed to enjoy despite some testing climbs and slippery surfaces at times. Only six seconds separated Paul from second place Nick Watson. Phil Clarke took third place and April Corbet was our top lady, finishing 12th. The damp weather didn’t stop us from having our post-race picnic in the castle grounds. Definitely one for next year’s Championship.

On Wednesday night, seven Quakers took part in the Roseberry Topping Fell Race. Basically, you ran up the big hill, touched the trig point and then ran back down again. Apart from Danny, none of us really had a clue what we were doing. Paul took home fifty points and Gill and Danny took home a bottle of wine after winning their age categories. There were no fatalities.

The next event is on Monday when it’s four times around the track at Eastbourne.
