Despite 13 Quakers takling the above on Sunday it did not prove unlucky as we were blessed with a fantastic winters day. After a horrrible journey through the fog to the start at Askrigg village hall we were greeted with bright sunshine half way up the first climb above Bainbridge. The views with the bottom of the dale still shrouded in fog were worth the entry fee.Further round the course Bolton Castle seemed to be framed in shafts of sunlight, will have to bring a camera on these outings. This 23 miler remains very popular with the full signs going up some three weeks prior to the event. Although the conditions overhead were fantastic, underfoot the boggy bits remained boggy. It was just a shame only one Quaker fell in the stuff as it always raises the spirits of friends and fellow competitors. Not telling who but he is a big bloke and his first name is Roy.

Several Quakers posted PBs for the course.

Fantastic efforts by April, first event over 15 miles despite falling through the first wall style and Sharron who knocked off an incredable 44 mins from her 2010 time.Watch out fellas these ladies are not messing about. As ever with a LDWA event great organisation, great course, plenty of food at the checkpoints and a hot meal at the end. All for the princely sum of £7. Only winge I heard no branston pickle for the pork pies at the Thoralby checkpoint.Sure they will put that right next year!
