Quaker’s endurance runner, Dave Thompson, couldn’t resist celebrating his 60th Birthday with a run – 100 mile to be precise over Ministry of Defence training land in Aldershot, Hampshire. The Caesar’s Camp Endurance Runs consist of 10 mile laps with 1520 feet of ascent per lap. Thompson completed the 100 mile course in a staggering 27 hours while fellow Quaker, Annette Clarke, took just over 14 hours to finish the 50 miler, a commendable time considering Clarke has missed 4 months of training due to injury.

Enjoying some superb Lakeland weather at the weekend were the 8 Quakers who took on the very undulating Helvellyn Trail Race. Anthony Corbett, Mark Colling and Wendy Colling shrugged off their recent injuries to complete the 15km course in 1:30:38, 1:34:52 and 1:35:06 respectively. Kate Schweizer ran well to finish in 1:35:52 as did April Corbett (1:40:16) and Diane Gardner (1:41:04). Less than a month since running in the Liverpool Marathon, Sandra Cass (1:51:46) and Diane Adkins (1:53:47) were back in action again for the Quakers’ women.

This year’s Guy Fawkes 10 miler went off with a bang when 36 Quakers joined 800 runners to take on the very hilly course around the picturesque village of Ripley in North Yorkshire. Brian Martin’s season continues to flourish as he held off fellow Quakers to cross the finish line first for the club in 1:12:38. Mark Robinson put on another good show (1:13:08) to finish second, just in front of Sean McIntyre (1:13:11) and Steve Snook (1:13:49). Louise Trainor moved another step closer to finishing the season as top female runner in the club championship with an impressive 1:13:57 finish time. Also running well for the Quaker’s women were: Katherine Hackett (1:21:55), Jackie Nicholls (1:30:05), Wendy Colling (1:31:22), Bev Snook (1:32:27), Pamela Barrass (1:36:22) and Julie Whinn (1:36:42). Peter McCrossan (1:18:41) can be pleased with his performance as can Stuart Hardcastle (1:21:10) and Graham Park (1:23:11). Danny Gordon (1:25:28) clocked up more points towards his bid for the club championship while Ben Bourne (1:26:07) and Paul Jefferies (1:27:28) also completed the course in respectable times. Other Quakers who did the club proud were: Ian Hammond (1:34:47), Anthony Corbett (1:34:48), Paul Keedy (1:36:36), John Whinn (1:37:11), Manar Saweirs (1:39:13), Mark Colling (1:42:04), Sandra Park (1:43:02), Sarah Wilson (1:43:10), Diane Gardner (1:43:42), Julie Bourne (1:45:36), Diane Adkins (1:45:41), Julie Lambert (1:46:09), Kevin Simpson (1:46:52), Jamie Burn (1:47:02), Sandra Martin (1:48:15), Sue New (1:48:15), Mike Horan (1:54:53), Julie Cole (2:03:04) and Alex Simpson (2:03:04).

The three Quakers who opted to run the Maltby 7 on Sunday were also blessed with good weather and a fine run out. Nick Mason recorded another fast time of 45:11 while Darren Stockdale (49:50) and Peter Rowley (53:02) also enjoyed good runs.
