Hi all

Cast your minds back to your more youthful days, the days when we had summers in the summer time, the kids could play out safe in the streets, and your Mom had a doll for a toilet roll holder and the dolls knitted dress went over the toilet roll itself.  Well, that's what I'm going to look like at our ball - the dress I bought 4 years ago in Bermuda remains unworn and now's it's time to make a fool of myself.  You have been warned!!!

By popular consent (and thank you for the many responses that I received) I have booked Saturday, 29 May at The Croft Spa Hotel.  Unfortunately both dates clashed with races the next day so I went with the majority verdict.

A few people are talking about booking rooms (Dave Mc - I won't repeat what you said this morning despite it being very funny......).  Please contact the hotel directly on 01325 720319 (regular double is GBP75 per room including full english brekky and full use of leisure/spa facilities and a themed room is GBP104, although all the rooms I previewed looked lovely).

I have booked the same DJ as the presentation night, despite him already having reservations he has reshuffled his work to accommodate us - he obviously enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed him!!!

It is suggested that we meet for pre dinner drinks at the hotel at 7.30pm and dinner will be served at 8.00pm.  The choice of menu is listed below and we will need to pre-order:

Starter:

Butternut squash soup or Prawn Cocktail

Main course:

Chicken or Salmon or veggie option of goats cheese pasta

Dessert:

Sticky Toffee Pudding or Fruit Tart

Tea & coffee

The bar will close at midnight with a view to the last stragglers departing at 12.30am.

Tickets will be priced at GBP20 per person.  Due to my work committments (or lack of time management) I'm sure you are all aware that I'm the one flying up into the school as everyone is running out, with this in mind in the first instance I would be grateful if you would give me your cheques on a club night, making it clear who you are and food choices if you have already decided (otherwise we can sort that later)

I will issue tickets nearer the time.  It is not my intention to have a raffle.  If anyone is extremely upset by that, please advise.

Any questions, please see Dawn at a club night.  Brian - if I see my phone number in any telephone boxes in Cockerton I know who is responsible!!!

Think that's about it.  Sorry about the lengthy email, for the newer members - you will realise why Phil now does the press reports.......

PS.  This bit is for the ladies only - I ran down Grange Road the other night and was stopped dead in my tracks by a sign saying 80% off selected evening wear.  Don't know which shop it was but it was half way down in the direction of town.  Can also recommend Leggs in Skinnergate.  If I lose my balls and don't wear the pink meringue number I'll be wearing my little black number which I purchased from there for our 10th anniversary ball - it's still going strong - unlike me.........  And for the guys that shouldn't be reading this bit - it was an INVESTMENT!!!
